Jump Rope for Heart and The American Heart Association

February 28, 2012

Since he started school, my son has been participating in Jump Rope for Heart sponsored by the American Heart Association. Last year he asked if he could reach out to my readers for help getting donations. He was able to bring in $160.00 in donations, making him the biggest earner of money at his school (proud of him but frankly, I found that to be so sad when it is such a great cause.).

For a fourth year in a row he will be jumping rope in an effort to raise money for the American Heart Association and bring more physical education equipment to his school. And it’s is no surprise that he wanted to repeat last years plea. However, he had to work a bit more at it this year. I required him to write a paragraph asking for help.

It reads (I’m editing for spelling):

Hi this is Ean. I need money to help people with a bad heart. I am going to do this by raising $300 or more for Jump Rope for Heart. Last year I made $160 and had the highest amount of money. So please help me raise $300.

If you would like to help Ean reach his goal of $300, please follow this Donation Link.  (Because of the way my kids’ schedule is, I didn’t see this information until Sunday Night. So , we only have a couple of days to build up donations. We have until the end of the day on March 2nd! So if you are going to donate, please do so quickly.)

Ean also asked that I include a link to this (very silly) video that he thought kicked butt was awesome.

If you are REALLY feeling generous, you can donate to Gavin, my younger son’s campaign. He has not taken up the cause like Ean has but he thinks it’d be really cool to win a pass to SkyZone (one of the prizes they are giving out if you raise $100).

A side note from me:

THANK YOU! If you are donating to the American Heart Association through these links or any other way, I want to thank you. Heart disease is the leading killer in nearly every demographic that you look at. I lost my father to a heart attack nearly 12 years ago. I am also an extremely high risk for heart disease (but I’m working on reversing that!!). This organization does wonderful things and I really appreciate any support you give it.

I also blog at A Five Star Life. I write about anything that comes to mind but try to focus on finding the good in daily life.

Tweeted. I hope he does well. That’s one of the sweetest letters I’ve ever seen.
