I’ve wanted to start a weekly roundup for awhile but I’m a tremendous slacker and never got to it.
Finally, today you get a weekly roundup!!
Aren’t you happy?
I plan to give you a few links from posts that I’ve read and enjoyed during the past week. Maybe you’ll find a new read for yourself. I’m going to add a bonus, non-personal finance section, eventually. I’ll also link you to a few places you can find me online whether it be guest posting or staff writing. I can’t show all of them because I do ghost writing as well and can’t take credit for those tiny bits of genius.
Without further adieu:
Awesomeness from other Personal Finance Bloggers
PTMoney brings you a reaction to the Suze Orman PrePaid Debit Card- Ms. Orman recently rolled out a Prepaid Debit Card to the dismay of most personal finance bloggers. Phil’s post explains it perfectly!
That was just the beginning of a week-long shit storm of blog posts, twitter comments and even live interviews with what Suze Orman would call “legit reporters.” You can read more from the post I wrote and it will link you to many other great posts. Coincidentally, if you Google “Suze Orman Prepaid Debit Card” I’m ranking #4. How’s that for SEO? Booyah!
Forbes offers some great budgeting advice, of which I desperately need. I’ve been gathering information and tools to develop a budget for the next two months. I think I have to do it for 3 months at a time due to my student loans.
On the topic of budgeting, David Ning gives us a great beginners post at Wisebread.com. I always felt that I had to make my budget once and stick to it but if I adjusted it then I was just giving in to myself and my whims. I realize now that to be effective, it must account for my behavoirs.
My good friend Brad at Enemyofdebt.comwrites about the totally body suck that is consumer debt. He gives some great advice on ways to avoid The Black Hole of Personal Finance in a guest post for CareOne.
Jana of Dailymoneyshot.net (who I’m happy to welcome as our newest member of Team EOD!) shows us that financial lessons can be found anywhere, including a ridiculous show like Lizard Lick Towing. The lessons are great but the sounds of the show make me happy to not have cable.
Awesome Debt Princess Writing Around the Web
As a staff writer for Everything Finance, I will be posting guest posts throughout the web. My first one went up this week at CareOne. I talk about being imaginative when you are developing the crucial support system that will help determine your success out of debt.
In preparation for tax season and the ridiculous way many of us look at a tax refund, I wrote Are You Prepared for a Sudden Windfall over at Enemy of Debt. I am a contributing member of Team EOD and post twice a month there.
If you weren’t aware, I have a secondary blog that I post in from time to time. I just use it to post things that really don’t fit in the personal finance world. I had an assignment for next week in my Creativity in the Classroom class to write a bio but I had to do it creatively. I went for a poem, it’s worked for me in the past. I plan to pair it up with a slide show of appropriate pictures. Take a look at My Bio, in Rhyme.
Awesome Places Where The Debt Princess Was Mentioned
I got some very surprising and awesome love for my . I have been grouped together with some awesome people in Main Street’s Best Twitter Feeds for Budgeting Tips. (Little do they know, I do NOT rock the budgeting, yet!)
I am a part of a few other round-ups and carnivals this week. Here’s just a couple of them:
Budgets Are Sexy gave mention to my post Cinderella Post where I describe my experiences with the Princess Mentality. Also, kudos to J$’s shout out on tv this week!
I have a first post in my first Yakezie Blog Carnival brought to you by Prairie EcoThrifter.
Too many blogs to mention for the Suze Orman Prepaid Debit Card debacle. But a few that mentioned me were CreditCards Canada, Sweating the Big Stuff , DollarVersity and The Free Financial Adviser.
Thanks everyone for an awesome week! Enjoy your reading!
I also blog at A Five Star Life. I write about anything that comes to mind but try to focus on finding the good in daily life.
