Happy 2012 (That’s Two Thousand-Twelve, by the way) !!
Hard to believe we have entered into a new year already. 2012 is going to be a good one, I’m really excited.
In just a couple of months I’ll be celebrating 2 years of blogging!
I’m starting my second quarter in Graduate School.
It’s going to be a good year. It will be even better if I can get this debt under control. Sadly, I am to the point where the collectors aren’t even calling that much. But it’s not stopping me from fighting. I’ve been paying on two of my bills and once they are paid off, I’m heading towards the next ones. I also have plans to work with a debt settlement company very soon to continue paying what I can. I’m earning more money each month and i think I’ll be able to make monthly payments towards my debt now.
A few numbers:
Dell Bill- was $558.07, now $475.23
Mastercard – was $489.72 now $314.72
Emergency Fund – $250.00
I’m hoping to pay off the MasterCard by next month as I’m expecting some money for one of my freelance projects any day now. That will go directly towards that bill. It is the only credit card in my name that I am currently paying on, the Dell bill is actually in my mom’s name. I hope to have it paid off by May, if not sooner.
Money Goals for the Month:
1. Acquire and pay for a year of renter’s insurance also pay ahead in car insurance to save myself some money.
2. Fully fund my emergency fund at $1,000.
3. Set up automatic payments for regular bills including utilities, internet and cell phone.
4. Set up a budget to avoid running out of money before my next pay check/school loan.
5. Pay for a logo for The Debt Princess and consider a blog design if funds are available.
Hopefully January will end on an even better note than it has started on. It’s been a good one thus far! More on that in future posts.

Those sound like great goals! Automatic billing has saved my butt – no late fees, no “Oops, spent my money on this when I should have saved it for that” etc etc
Jumping Jax Designs has really great prices for their logos and blog headers – way cheaper than a lot of the places out there, just FYI (I’m totally not a spammer, I just love Becca’s work)

Thank you so much! I have always been afraid of automating my bills because I was worried that I’d not have the money in my account when they came out. However, if I just used a check register and take the money out right away, that wouldn’t happen (duh!)
I’m going to look into that gal for the logo. Thanks for the referral.

Keep up the great work and build up that emergency fund! Everyone has to start somewhere right?

Thanks Kevin! You are right, I had to start somewhere. It’s not as much as I’d like or what I should be paying but it’s a step in the right direction!
