Well it is April 1, 2012 and that means it is time for another installment of “Where’s the Debt?”
My very first, Where’s the Debt? post was published on 3/22/2010. I have been writing about my debt situation for two years now. (Yep, my 2 year blog anniversary has come and gone with no big fan fare or cool giveaway, bummer dude.).
In March of 2010, my debt was over $37,000. Sadly, it’s more now due to further fees being tacked on and my decision to return to school. However, I feel better about my situation now than I did 2 years ago. The increase in my debt has allowed me to move out of a very bad situation (for both my mother and I, we do not live together well). And it has allowed me to start a new career with freelance writing.
All in all, I’m feeling good about my financial outlook.
If you take a look at my financial goals, you can see the progress that I have made.
* Build Emergency Fund – $1000
* Pay off 5/3 Mastercard – Balance = $275
*Pay off Dell – PAID in FULL!!
* Pay off Paypal Mastercard – $1500
* Pay off Capital One – $2000
* Pay off Chase 1 – $2200
* Pay off Chase 2 – $5000
* Pay off Discover – $6000
In case you didn’t see what I wrote above or my post earlier this week.
I paid off a credit card bill!
So I still have a ways to go but now I can roll the $50 I was paying on Dell into my MasterCard’s current payment of $25 and it will be paid off in 3 months without throwing any extra funds I have towards it. I’m hoping that I can actually get it paid off by the end of April.
And that’s where the debt is for April 2012. I hope you are doing well with your own debt free journey, if you are on one.
I also blog at A Five Star Life. I write about anything that comes to mind but try to focus on finding the good in daily life.
Congratulations!!!!

Great job on paying off your credit card. I hope freelancing can speed things up for you?
Also, sorry I have not been around much! I have been sick, but am feeling better. Just trying to get all of my energy back now.

Congratulations, on what you have accomplished in 2 years. It’s amazing how much one can learn about themselves when they take more interest in their finances. I think you are well on your way to debt freedom and once you get there it will be a well deserved pat on the back. Cheers Mate.

I paid off a car loan last month ($9300), and it felt sooooo good! That leaves my husband and I with just my student loans (which my parents graciously pay) and our mortgage.
