The Money Train

March 16, 2010

I need money and I need it quickly. Without a car or reliable public transportation in my town, I’m forced to get creative. I’m doing a few things to bring in some extra cash. I thought I would share with all of you. Maybe it would help you bring in some extra money too.

First thing I’m doing is donating plasma. This is a great way to earn up to $50 a week and it doesn’t really take a lot of time. You can donate twice a week. You will receive a higher amount on your second donation within seven days. I went into it thinking of it as money and that was really all I saw out of doing it. Then I received thanks from someone who received a transfusion of plasma recently and it made me feel so good inside. Now I understand that it is vital for medical procedures as well as in the manufacturing of medications. Really you can’t go wrong donating plasma if you qualify for it based on your health.

I go to a Biolife location. If you are interested in going to one here is their site BioLife . Please offer up my name to them as a referral if you do, I’d appreciate it (its Jessica Streit). Referrals earn even more money, so once you start going, tell all your friends and get some bonus cash as well.

The next way I am earning money is through ChaCha. ChaCha is a mobile search engine. Individuals send in questions via texts or by calling a toll free number. These questions are delivered to guides who are logged into the ChaCha system. We answer the question within seconds (sometimes minutes) and send it back to you. Its not a replacement for a full time job or even a part time job but its easy enough to do. I worked a lot this weekend while sitting at home. I was sitting in my pj’s, watching tv. The only thing different from a similar weekend a month ago is that I was answering questions on ChaCha and earning a few (and I do mean a few) bucks!

If you are interested please use me as a referral. Again, by using someone as a referral you will earn us all more money. You’ll simply give them my email address () when you sign up and it will give me a bonus (like $5.00 or something) and then you refer people once you are guiding. Once you have people under you, you will earn even more.

And finally I am selling everything I can that is worth money. If I’m not using it any longer or I know I can replace it later on with a better version then I am selling it now. I’m going to places like Once Upon a Child, Craigslist, eBay and Half-Priced Books. I have even had a couple of yard sales for the items that had a little more wear and tear than would be acceptable for resale.

I have received a number of suggestions pertaining to this blog that I am considering. Suggestions have included ads on the site, posting articles to a website that pays you based on the number of hits you receive and even posting a link for my paypal and accepting donations (Here’s the link to where that idea comes from SaveKaryn ). I am sure that I will do at least one of those, but maybe even all three, who knows. Times are tough for us all, I know.

I’d love to hear your thoughts after you read the blogs and if you like this blog so far, please pass it along to others (send a #FF on twitter, become a fan on FaceBook, add me to your Blogroll, anyway you can help, I will gladly reciprocate.)

Happy earning!

You may also want to check out Gather.com – I sent you an invite. You basically post pics and articles and earn points for the content which you can then trade in for either $$ via paypal or a gift card. :) It's pretty easy and for me adds up fast and I barely use it!

you can make an easy 5 to 10 by mystery shopping. Also merchandising and doing independant contractor work.

You might check out swag bucks and blogher for ways to get money off your blog.

Corey, I signed up with Gather. Thanks for the invite, I'd never heard of it before.

Beckye, I might give that a shot however without a car, it's going to be difficult to arrange. But it's worth a shot.

This is a great idea. Have you read the book Save Karyn?

Heather, thank you for following my blog!! Yes I am actually reading it now. I like what she did but so far, I've been unsure of how to address the donation button. Although it has brought in some money.
